So, what’s the price of a Super Bowl ticket these days?
$12,891. (!!)
Yes, you read that correctly.
No, that’s not for a private suite, VIP package, nor does it include hotel or travel accommodations.
According to VividSeats, that’s the average ticket price for Super Bowl LIV (as of January 19th). And, per TicketIQ, this year’s prices are the highest. Ever.
In any case, if you were seriously considering going to the big game, this is a good time to reconsider. Money like that could be better spent on other things, if practicality is of any concern.
For the price of a Super Bowl ticket, you can buy…
Samsung 82” 8K Smart TV – Impress your friends! Watch the game! Save money! For a mere $7000, you can watch the Super Bowl in all its retina-burning, 8K glory, and still have nearly 6 grand left over.
African safari – For under $11K, you can go on that African safari vacation you always dreamt of. This price is for a private tour, and includes airfare & 4-star hotel accommodations (Source: discoverafrica.com).
2017 Chevrolet Malibu LT (Used) – So you wanted to get tickets and drive to Miami, because you couldn’t afford the additional air fare. Then your car broke down, and you’re SOL on both counts. Well for the price of a Super Bowl ticket, you can fix half of your problems. A pre-owned 2017 Chevy Malibu LT with only 39K miles is selling for under 11 grand (Source: truecar.com).
Google (Alphabet) stock – After years of purchasing penny stocks, how good would it feel to finally buy into a real stock? At its current price, you’d only net 8 shares, but it’s an investment, right?
Rolex GMT Master II watch – For around $12K, you can proudly wear that time-honored (get it?) symbol of success. Practical? Probably not, but it lasts a lot longer than the Super Bowl.
67 yearly subscriptions to Netflix Premium – I just thought I’d throw this out there.
(More) reasonable Super Bowl ticket prices
Apparently, VividSeats’ price estimate is on the high side. The average price of a Super Bowl ticket, according to TickPick, is $8052. Not sure why there’s such a large discrepancy, but who cares? The point of this article, and this site, is to save money, or spend it wisely, and we’re talking about a difference of nearly $5000.
But an average price of $8052 is still a record high, and represents a 70% increase from just 6 years ago:
Will Super Bowl Tickets Ever Get Cheaper?
